APCO Goal – open lightweight harness from school to cross-country

The Goal is an open free-flight harness with a seat board. APCO designed it to be simple yet comfortable, lightweight yet durable – for students as well as weekend pilots. It takes you from your first solo flights to your first cross-country flights, packs small for travel and is light enough for hike & fly.

This offer is size S/M (APCO code 45510) for pilots up to 180 cm tall. For taller pilots APCO makes the Goal in L/XL (180 to 195 cm) – just ask us.

Seating position and getting in

• Get-Up system: only two buckles close the entire harness. Leg and chest straps are linked so that neither can be forgotten; the transition from standing to sitting and back for landing is easy and safe.
• Back inclination in two preset positions – simple, light and intuitive.
• Seat board made of lightweight polycomb that spreads the body weight evenly.
• Shoulder straps with Edelrid aluminium slider buckles (loop and slide), chest buckle with a magnetic Fidlock closure – easy to use even with gloves and in an emergency.
• ABS system and ball-bearing pulleys for the speed system.

Storage

• Large rear compartment for all your equipment.
• Mesh compartment inside the back pocket for a CamelBak hydration pack, with its own outlet for the drinking tube.
• Large, deep side pocket on the left, accessible in flight, with a safety loop for a phone or camera.
• Velcro area on the shoulder strap for a flight instrument.
• Two magnetic holders for the speed bar: easy to stow and opened with your foot in flight (recommended with the APCO Wonder Bar).

Weight

In S/M the Goal weighs 2.9 kg including Airfoam protector and Lexan plate (empty harness 1.9 kg, polycomb seat board 350 g, Airfoam protector with Lexan plate 650 g). Weight is saved with Dyneema webbing, the polycomb seat board and a minimum of metal hardware – without compromising durability, safety or comfort. An extra-durable bottom fabric protects against sliding butt landings.

Protection and reserve system

The 17 cm Airfoam protector works together with a Lexan plate: the Airfoam absorbs large impact energy, while the Lexan plate spreads sharp impacts, such as from rock edges, over the whole protector area and prevents objects like branches from penetrating the harness. Reflective elements make you visible in low light – for example while waiting for your retrieve at the roadside.

The reserve compartment sits under the seat, with a zipped bridle channel so that no sand or dirt gets in. Two separate zips secure the compartment and release the reserve easily even under high G-load. The compartment suits the APCO Mayday reserve parachutes. The large, highly visible and reflective reserve handle sits under the main carabiner: you find it by sliding your hand from the riser over the carabiner along the main webbing to the handle.

Why does the Airfoam not reach all the way under the seat? According to APCO, the reserve under the seat continues the protection during take-off and landing. Space under the seat is needed for the reserve and ballast, and nothing may press against the reserve compartment, otherwise deployment can be hindered. After a reserve deployment the shoulder attachment points bring the pilot into an upright position, so the legs touch down first and only then the back with the Airfoam.

Certification, scope of delivery and colour

Certified to EN/LTF up to 120 kg. Scope of delivery according to APCO: polycomb seat board, Airfoam protector with Lexan plate and reserve handle. APCO recommends adding the Light Universal Bridle (42025), the Wonder Bar (43135) and carabiners of your choice. Colour: black with grey.
