APCO Hybrid light EN-B paraglider for hike-and-fly and paramotor use
APCO Hybrid is a hybrid paraglider for school flying, beginner to intermediate pilots, hike-and-fly, cross-country and compatible light paramotor use. The wing combines a conventional double-surface profile at the front with a single-surface profile at the rear.
APCO describes the Hybrid as a new category of wing that combines advantages of classic wings and single-surface designs. The front section maintains the profile and internal pressure, while the rear single-surface section reduces weight and packing volume.
The Hybrid is light, with canopy weights from 3.0 kg to 3.25 kg depending on size. It is not presented by APCO as a dedicated ultralight wing; the reduced rear surface is the design feature that creates its particular handling and weight.
The wing is available in sizes S, M, L and XL. Size S is code 38510, M is 38520, L is 38530 and XL is 38540. The exact area, projected area, cell count, canopy weight and pilot-weight ranges are shown in the technical tables.
Certification is size-dependent. Sizes S, M and L are listed by APCO with EN-B and DGAC. Size XL is listed as EN-B pending and DGAC pending. Do not use one general certification statement for all sizes.
The Hybrid is intended for schools, early flying, hike-and-fly, thermalling and progression toward cross-country flying. APCO describes it as easy to inflate, stable in roll and pitch and suitable for pilots who want a calm, readable wing.
APCO reports low take-off and landing speeds, a long and forgiving brake range and low brake pressure. The wing is not a fast wing; its profile is optimised for efficient slower flight and thermalling rather than maximum speed.
Roll stability is a central characteristic of the design. APCO explains that the exposed rear ribs contribute to yaw and roll stabilisation, helping the wing remain centred during launch, turbulence and thermalling.
Pitch stability comes from the profile and the Sharknose leading edge. APCO states that the wing resists collapses and damps energy, while the brake response remains progressive and readable.
For paramotor use, APCO distinguishes the paramotor configuration from the free-flight version. The paramotor version uses a sheathed line set, aluminium V-links and paramotor risers with trimmers. The actual setup must be checked before ordering.
The canopy uses Skytex 27 and Skytex 33 zero-porosity ripstop nylon. The front top surface uses the heavier fabric in the most highly loaded area; the rear top and bottom use lighter Skytex 27, while the ribs use Skytex 33 with hard finish.
Before purchase, verify the actual all-up weight, size, certification for the relevant country, free-flight or paramotor configuration, risers, launch environment, experience level and intended use. Blue, Orange and GreyBird are the available colour variants in the current Saleor catalogue.
The manufacturer data, certification matrix and variant facts are maintained separately in the structured Saleor metadata so that the customer view cannot accidentally apply the certification of one size to another size.
The Hybrid is deliberately slower than a conventional wing across the speed range, trading top speed for low-speed efficiency, low packing volume, predictable handling and a calm flight character. These points are part of the suitability decision and are not a replacement for formal training or the applicable certification rules.
